A month before the pandemic, I had plans to introduce a gelato bar at my event venue, Studio52 DC. I developed different flavors and secured a manufacturer then COVID happened.
My event business was shut down. My team and I rescheduled months of events without a foreseeable re-opening date. With so much financial uncertainty and a one year old, I took the unused liquor from these cancelled events and put it into the gelato. To my surprise, it sold out 3 times within the first 3 weeks. I took this as a sign and quickly made 2 big changes to the growing brand.
I hired an award-winning gelato chef to revamp all of the flavors and changed the brand name to Niko's Spiked Gelato. Now Niko’s Spiked Gelato is made from high quality, fresh ingredients, and has 5% alcohol in each pint. I hope you enjoy the gelato as much as I do!
